You must play at least 4 games in a month to remain in the league, and can play each player in your class up to a maximum of 2 times in any given month.  One Player at least must write  “#ASR League” in the game chat within the first 30 moves!
It’s very important you do this. We have a script that checks for “#ASR league” every hour and adds league games to the results. If its not there, it won’t register as a league game!

League design

The tier/class system has a pyramid structure, and loosely looks like this:

Layers

The league is made out of multiple layers;  Super, Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta. The league works with the pyramid system. The pyramid means that for every layer you move down you double in size of classes. So Alpha splits into 2 Beta classes, Beta splits into 4 Gamma classes etc. Layer sizes might vary according to the number of entrants we have that month.
Sometimes we will have a different amount of classes of one layer. Delta is now 1 big group which is connected to all gamma classes.

Classes
The Alpha class consists of 18 players. Both Beta I and II consist of 20 players.  All Gamma classes consist of 25 players and the Delta class does not have a player-limit.  Sometimes dans will be seeded into Gamma. If you are 1d+ and want to join, you might be seeded to Gamma.

Promotion/demotion
We are demoting 8 players in total from Alpha to Beta. This of course requires 8 promotions from Beta to Alpha, which means that the top 4 players of Beta I (and II) will be promoted to Alpha.

From Beta, we demote 20 players in total. Since we have 4 Gamma classes, the top 5 players will be promoted from Gamma to Beta.

For the sake of a better overview:

class     promotion/demotion
Alpha                                       8-
Beta I                  4+               10-
Beta II                4+               10-
Gamma I           5+                10-
… Gamma IV   5+                10-
Delta                 40+

Safezone: Top 8 players in Alpha are safe from demotion, in Beta the top 10 players and in gamma the best 12 will be safe.

As a rule we first kick all players that have not reached the minimum amount of games to stay in the league, then do demotions. If a player decides to quit the league but has played the minimum amount of games in that month we will count him as a regular player and remove him after promotion/demotion.
It can happen that we need to promote extra players from a layer to fill up the layer(s) above to the specified number. with these extra promotions we look at the activity(points) of the players.

If you for example start in Delta and you get promoted, you go into Gamma layer next month. Every month we shuffle all players who stay in a layer to prevent a player from playing the same person over and over again.

There are months where we deviate from the pyramid system. In that case we will make a post about the rules for promotion/demotion for that month.

League scoring system
